She is a poet, playwright, essayist, and professor. She holds a PhD in Letters/Comparative Literature from the Federal University of Minas Gerais, a Master’s degree in Arts from Indiana University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Letters from FALE/UFMG. She has postdoctoral training in Performance Studies from New York University, Department of Performance Studies, and in Performance and Ritual from the Federal University of Fluminense (UFF). Professor Emerita at the Federal University of Minas Gerais. A retired faculty member from the Federal University of Minas Gerais, she also taught at the Federal University of Ouro Preto and was a Visiting Professor at the Tisch School of the Arts and the Federal University of Fluminense. From March 2014 to March 2018, she served as Director of Cultural Action at UFMG. From 2010 to 2012, she was Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Literary Studies (Pós-Lit) at FALE/UFMG. She chaired the Commissions for Creation (1998) and Implementation (1999) of the Undergraduate Course in Performing Arts at UFMG, which was established at the School of Fine Arts of UFMG.
