Cultural Activities

Beyond the academic program, Crossroads 2026 / VI Congresso RIEC offers three optional cultural activities. You can sign up for any combination — one, two, or all three. Each activity is billed separately, so you only pay for the ones you choose.

1. Visit to Instituto Inhotim

Inhotim: where art and nature meet

During Crossroads 2026, participants will have the opportunity to visit Instituto Inhotim, in Brumadinho (MG).

Internationally recognized, Inhotim is both a contemporary art museum and a botanical garden, bringing together more than 1,800 works by artists from 43 countries amid a lush natural setting. The 140-hectare grounds feature galleries and installations set alongside rare plant species from every continent.

More than a space for contemplation, Inhotim is a place of transformative experience: art is interwoven with landscape design, and the gardens become a living stage for science, biodiversity, and new ways of being.

Visiting Inhotim means immersing yourself in a singular universe that inspires, provokes, and broadens horizons — a not-to-be-missed opportunity for conference participants seeking the encounter between culture and nature.

2. Traditional Minas Gerais Dinner at Maria das Tranças

Maria das Tranças: 75 years of Minas Gerais tradition

During Crossroads 2026, participants will have the opportunity to experience one of Belo Horizonte’s most traditional restaurants: Maria das Tranças, founded in 1950 and known for its iconic Frango ao Molho Pardo (or Chicken Cabidela – It is a traditional Brazilian dish made with chicken cooked in a rich, dark sauce thickened with its own blood and vinegar) — the original recipe once served to iconic Brazilian figures, ranging from Juscelino Kubitschek, the visionary president who built Brasília, to legendary musicians like the bossa nova poet and composer Vinicius de Moraes, and the globally acclaimed singer Elis Regina.

The package runs for 4 hours, with unlimited food and drinks: starters (Combo basket of cassava fries and crispy french friesFried cornmeal mushSauteed Chicken Gizzardcooked in a rich chicken brothBrazilian cheese breadStuffed Cornmeal Pastries-Pastéis de Angu), main courses (Frango ao Molho PardoWhole fried chicken with onionsRustic whole chicken with creamy cornmeal ), side dishes (RiceFried okraAngu “Brazilian polenta”), beverages (soft drinks, juice, water, and draft beer) and dessert (Dulce de leche served with artisanal Canastra cheese).

3. Conference Party

A night by Pampulha Lake to celebrate Crossroads 2026

To mark the end of the academic program, Crossroads 2026 / VI Congresso RIEC invites all participants to a celebration evening at Otacílio Lounge & Bar, located on the shores of Pampulha Lake.

The main attraction of the evening will be the duo Amandona and Rafa Ventura. They have been singing together since 2016 as the leaders of a street carnival band called Abalô-Caxi — a playful mix of the words “Alô” (Hello) and “Abacaxi” (pineapple). Every year, their performances draw over 100,000 partygoers to the streets of Belo Horizonte. The duo is widely recognized for their lasting support of Minas Gerais state and for their active role in Brazil’s LGBTQIAPN+ community.

A special set. We’ll have a special DJ taking over the dance floor, mixing Brazilian rhythms with international hits — keeping the energy alive from start to finish. Come celebrate with us in this unique lakeside setting. We look forward to seeing you there!
