PARALLEL SESSIONS — ORAL COMMUNICATIONS

PARALLEL SESSIONS GUIDELINES 

The parallel sessions of Crossroads in Cultural Studies 2026/VI Scientific Congress of the International Network in Cultural Studies (RIEC) will have a total duration of 1 hour and 30 minutes, organized as follows. The conference includes 8 parallel oral communication sessions, distributed across the 4 days of the congress (July 27, 28, 29, and 31, 2026), with 2 sessions per day: one in the afternoon and one in the late afternoon. Presentation time

Each session includes 3 presentations of 20 minutes each, totalling 60 minutes of presentations. In some sessions, for scheduling reasons, there will be only 2 presentations. In these cases, the remaining time will be redistributed among the presentations and/or the open discussion.

Open discussion

The remaining 30 minutes are devoted to open discussion with the audience. The moderator will be responsible for managing this time according to the flow of the session.

Role of the moderator

The moderator is responsible for chairing the session: introducing the participants, managing speaking time, and facilitating the open discussion with the audience.

Room facilities

Each session will have its own room, equipped with the necessary resources for slide presentations. A slide presentation template is available on the conference website. Its use is optional.

Conference languages

Presentations may be delivered in any of the three official languages of the conference: Portuguese, English, and Spanish. We are working to provide translation support across the conference languages and will communicate the available options shortly.
